So You Think You can Camp!
July 4th - 10th 2010
We are blessed to have our leaders back with us again this year. Cory and Josh have been leading and mentoring our youth for a number of years now. Each year they are able to lead and inspire teenagers from all over.
Pastor Josh:
I am the youth pastor at Hillcrest EMC in Medicine Hat AB and have been involved with ELBC as a worship leader and speaker since 1999. I became co-youth camp director in 2003 and continue to lead worship, teach and coordintate the chapels, prayer times and other faith excercises. Being born and raised in Regina I have a heart to minister to Saskatchewan youth as well as those in my local community. We intentionally build relationships with students and minisitries in Saskatchewan, especially students in smaller communities who do not have paid youth staff. Each quarter we have connecting points to built our inter-pronvincial community. Echo Lake Youth Bible Camp and the Echo Lake Youth Fall Retreat each see over 100 students from across the prairies come together at ELBC. The Winnipeg Winter Retreat also has over 100 registrations from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta for a retreat held at Albright EMC. Sasktour is our opportunity to tour and serve other churches as we travel for 10 days visiting 11 churches.
I have a passion to see the students that come to ELBC grow in healthy relationships with one another and have a life-changing meeting with Jesus Christ. Through worship, relevant teaching, community, personal time with God and prayer, students can experience God in a place that naturally draws them to God as well as a place that is safe to ask questions and seek refuge in Him. Our ministry does not end when the last student leaves the camp ground, through mail, email, texts and phone calls our students and leaders continue to connect and encourage one another throughout the year.
Pastor Cory:
I am currently the Family Ministries Pastor at Celebration Lutheran Church for 10+ years. I love my church. I love working for the Kingdom of God. I work with a great team. For the last 39 years in a row I have been attending Echo Lake Bible Camp. It is an amazing place to experience God.
A little tidbit about Echo Lake Youth Bible Camp: You just need to come and try it. The best camp music you will ever experience. The students wait all year for the food (which is cooked by this incredibly good looking lady – who happens to be my wife). We’ve had campers from Australia, Mexico, USA and from all over Canada. Youth Camp is about relationships. It’s about teenagers being teenagers. It’s about an opportunity to be you, in a setting that allows you to be you.
